The Cult of Humanity and Lower Consciousness Traits

In examining the “Cult of Humanity”, it becomes clear that many of the behaviors, motivations, and allegiances that people exhibit within this mass adherence to societal norms are rooted in lower-consciousness (LC) traits. These traits, as outlined in the Oneness Movement (OM) framework, limit spiritual growth, stifle personal evolution, and contribute to the ego-driven mentality that prevails in much of modern human society.

The Cult of Humanity represents a collective allegiance to systems, values, and structures that are largely unexamined but offer psychological comfort, such as consumerism, nationalism, and technological reliance. People conform to these constructs because they fulfill deep-seated needs for affirmation, belonging, and security, but they often do so at the cost of their spiritual and emotional growth. These behaviors align closely with LC tendencies, which prioritize ego, materialism, and fear-based motivations over higher-consciousness virtues like compassion, truth, and wisdom.

Lower-Consciousness Traits and the Cult of Humanity

  1. Ego-Driven Selfishness and MaterialismOne of the most prominent lower-consciousness traits found within the Cult of Humanity is ego-driven selfishness, where individuals prioritize their own material gain and success over collective well-being. This manifests in the obsessive pursuit of wealth, status, and power, traits that are central to modern societal values.

    • Consumerism becomes a defining trait in this cult, where people find validation through the accumulation of material possessions and the outward display of wealth. This behavior feeds the ego, reinforcing the idea that one’s value comes from external validation rather than internal growth or spiritual depth.

    • Nationalism and allegiance to political identity can also reflect this trait, as people feel superior to others based on arbitrary distinctions like nationality, race, or political affiliation. This creates a division mentality rather than fostering unity or Oneness, keeping people entrenched in us-versus-them dynamics.

  2. Fear-Based Control and the Illusion of SecurityAnother LC trait that defines the Cult of Humanity is the need for control based on fear. People align with societal systems because they seek a sense of security, but this security is often illusory. Fear of stepping outside the norm, alienation, or losing social status leads people to cling to established systems, even when those systems are spiritually or emotionally limiting.

    • People conform to societal expectations out of fear—fear of being outcast, of facing financial ruin, or of having their worth questioned. This fear keeps them trapped in a cycle of low-risk, low-consciousness behaviors that prioritize safety over growth.

    • This LC trait fosters complacency, as people stop questioning the systems they participate in and simply continue along the path set before them, losing the opportunity for self-discovery and higher-consciousness development.

  3. Greed and GluttonyGreed, another LC trait, is rampant in modern human systems, especially in capitalist structures. The relentless pursuit of more—more money, more resources, more consumption—embodies gluttony and excess. People hoard resources while others go without, driven by a belief that accumulation leads to fulfillment, when in fact it only serves to feed the ego.

    • Gluttony in this sense is not just about food or wealth, but about the endless desire for more—more attention, more validation, more control. This leads to a spiritually empty existence, where people seek external gratification instead of cultivating internal balance and harmony.

    • Greed and gluttony also drive environmental destruction, as human consumption outpaces the planet’s ability to sustain life, revealing how lower-consciousness behaviors harm not only people but the earth itself.

  4. Lack of Compassion and EmpathyIn the Cult of Humanity, compassion and empathy are often sacrificed in the name of competition and self-advancement. LC behaviors like callousness, indifference, and self-centeredness dominate much of modern human interaction, where people are more concerned with their own gains than the collective good.

    • This leads to a society where the suffering of others is often ignored, excused, or even exploited for personal or corporate gain. Compassion is viewed as weakness, and empathy is seen as an obstacle to achieving material success.

  5. Ignorance and Resistance to TruthIgnorance, another key LC trait, permeates the Cult of Humanity. Many people resist truth and remain willfully ignorant of the deeper realities of life, choosing instead to adhere to comforting narratives and beliefs, even when they are false or destructive.

    • People often avoid facing uncomfortable truths about themselves, their behaviors, or the systems they support, preferring the ease of ignorance to the challenge of confronting their own lower-consciousness tendencies. This resistance to self-reflection keeps them trapped in ego, reinforcing the cult-like mentality of conformity over critical thinking or spiritual growth.

The OM Response: Awakening Higher Consciousness

OM stands in stark contrast to the Cult of Humanity by encouraging individuals to awaken to their higher potential, embrace Oneness, and rise above lower-consciousness tendencies. OM calls for people to actively reject the materialistic, ego-driven, and fear-based norms of modern society, instead fostering a path of self-awareness, compassion, and truth.

  • Self-Reflection and Accountability: OM encourages individuals to reflect on their behaviors, assess their CIS (Consciousness Index Spectrum) scores, and strive to elevate themselves by adopting higher-consciousness values such as wisdom, strength, and compassion.

  • Empathy and Unity: OM pushes for a world where compassion and empathy drive human interaction. In contrast to the Cult of Humanity’s competitive and self-centered ethos, OM fosters cooperation, collective well-being, and a vision of interconnectedness that uplifts all beings.

  • Rejection of Materialism: OM invites individuals to transcend materialism and the egoic drive for accumulation, offering a path toward internal fulfillment and the realization of Oneness. This includes a rejection of greed, gluttony, and wastefulness, in favor of sustainability, mindfulness, and spiritual growth.

Conclusion: Awakening from the Cult of Humanity

The Cult of Humanity thrives on the traits of lower consciousness, encouraging people to prioritize ego, control, materialism, and ignorance over spiritual or emotional growth. OM’s mission is to help individuals awaken from this cult-like adherence, guiding them to discover their true nature and align with higher-consciousness values that lead to a more compassionate, unified, and enlightened world.

By stepping out of the unquestioned allegiance to human systems, people can begin the journey toward self-awareness, Oneness, and true freedom—a journey where higher consciousness replaces the lower-consciousness traps of fear, greed, and ignorance.
